Story
I will be running the Rome Marathon in March in support of Daniel Willis and his family, who are very close friends of ours.
Daniel is 14 years old and, twelve months ago, he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour that required major surgery. While the operation was successful and the tumour was removed, the months that followed have been incredibly challenging for Daniel and his family. He has undergone an intensive programme of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which meant long periods living away from home in Manchester, time away from school, and being unable to see his friends.
Throughout this difficult journey, The Candlelighters Trust has provided invaluable support to Daniel, his brother George, and his parents, Jane and Jason. Their help has made a meaningful difference to the family during an extremely tough time.
Daniel is continuing with treatment and, encouragingly, his prognosis is positive. The family would like to recognise and give something back for the support they have received from The Candlelighters Trust, and I hope to contribute to this by raising funds through my marathon run.
