Story
Last year I took part in the Doddie Aid 6 week challenge. So this year, I thought I had to go bigger! This year I am going to run 5km every day for the whole year (and it’s a leap year!).
I’ve decided to do this challenge as we, like many families do, tragically suffered two miscarriages in recent years. The heartache of these losses really hit us at the time but made us ever more thankful to have our beautiful boy.
As you’ve made it this far, here’s some facts…
- a miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy during the first 23 weeks
- In the UK, it is estimated that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss
- If you've had 3 or more miscarriages in a row (recurrent miscarriages), further tests are often used to check for any underlying cause. However, no cause is found in about half of cases.
MISS are a miscarriage support service for anyone who experiences baby loss in Scotland. They provide support, information and advice through one-to-one sessions or support groups.
Running every day for a whole year will be both a physical, mental and logistical challenge. Your donation will be going to a great cause and will also give me the motivation to keep going. Thank you so much!
