I have been supporting the incredible work Dave Rutherford's You Can Africa (an I AM partner) does for well over a decade. In 2023 I jumped out of a plane raising enough funds to build this house for Octaviah who runs You Can Africa in Uganda. In return Octaviah is giving up 65% of her salary for a number of years and this money is being invested in various community enterprise projects.

In 2024 I went to Uganda to visit the You Can Africa project and stayed with Octaviah, her husband Bedah and their children in their new home.

I'm now going back to Africa to climb Kilimanjaro (2026) to raise money to finish building You Can Africa's guest house so children's sponsors can come to Uganda and visit the project (staying free of charge) and You Can Africa can earn an income from AirBnB guests who are not sponsors.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa standing at 19,340 feet, and the highest free-standing peak in the world, meaning it is not part of an actual mountain range.

I will be paying the cost of my Kilimanjaro climb so 100% of all sponsorship received will go to this You Can Africa project via the registered charity I AM.
