In 2021 I was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma, which is an incurable blood cancer. I was diagnosed at stage 4 and had to receive chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment straight away. This treatment was successful helping put me into remission. Unfortunately, due to the incurable nature of the disease this remission was short lived and I relapsed at the end of 2022. Since then I have been on something called watch and wait where the progression of the disease is monitored until it reaches the stage where I need to receive treatment.

The weight of this hanging over me made living a normal life without anxiety and worry very difficult. This is where Maggie's came in - a charity focused on providing support and therapy to those with cancer and their loved ones. Maggie's have been amazing to me and my wife Leah, they really kept us going through the toughest moments. That's why we wanted to give something back.

Our annual event this year will see North and South compete 3 times across 2 days. We start in Manchester with a relay race of 2 teams running through the day and night aiming to reach London first. Each participant running at least a half marathon, the teams running 750km in total! Once this is complete we will head to the football game for the 5th meet up between the North and South teams. It is currently tied 2-2. The day will finish with a darts night at Bar Kick in Shoreditch with darts, entertainment and prizes on offer!
