Story

I am thrilled to announce that I will be participating in the TCS London Marathon 2026 on April 26, 2026, as a proud member of Team Cure Parkinson's. This incredible event is not just a race; it is a powerful opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a cause that touches the lives of so many.

For those that know me up until September 2023 I regularly ran ultra marathons from the D33 in 2011, my very first ultra, to twice completing the West Highland Way race in 2011 and 2013. So between 2011 and 2023 I was a pretty regular face on the Scottish ultra circuit. Many happy memories of numerous Highland fling races, Devil of the highlands, Glenmore 24, Cateran trail, Great glen, and numerous others all came crashing to end following my diagnosis in March of this year. After several years of really poor finishes and not really understanding why, i finally have an answer. Gills dad had Parkinson's and for 15 years we watched him struggle, never did we think that i would get Parkinson's, we didn't see the signs, there are so many symptoms to this condition and the impact it has on the wider family and friends leaves a lasting mark.

Cure Parkinson's is dedicated to finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for this challenging condition. Their unwavering commitment inspires hope in countless individuals and families affected by Parkinson's disease. Together, we can make a difference and bring us closer to the breakthrough we all desire.

I humbly ask for your support in this journey. I will be running this in memory of Fred and to find, hopefully a cure. My goal is to raise £2,500 to contribute towards vital research and initiatives that will lead us toward a brighter future. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to achieving our shared vision of a world free from Parkinson's disease. Thank you for believing in this cause and for your generous support!
