Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the Allstars Cricket JustGiving page.
Sunday 11th August shall hopefully represent a good day in three ways.
1. It shall be a chance for those who have/had a connection with Allstars cricket to renew contact with each other four years after the club’s official last game and three years after our last fundraiser. The club was a special combination of people from a broad range of lifestyles who joined together to enjoy each other’s company and to play competitive but friendly cricket.
2. To raise money for the fight against a neurological condition for which at present there is no cure but where there is hope of one being discovered. This competition is to raise money for a locally based Parkinson’s charity that recognises that one important battle is to learn to appreciate what you can do not focus on what you cannot – and therefore to approach life in the most positive manner possible.
3. To entertain those playing and those watching in the way that only village cricket can do so. It will be clear that throwing oneself into cricket is the best way to get something out of it.
The players are asked to pay what will be a donation to the charity of £10 by the end of May 2024 to book themselves into one of the much sought after team places. If there is a desire to contribute to the charity that can be made in addition to that match fee or if you are not playing – for whatever reason – but would like to use the game as a means for making such a payment that would be welcomed.
There will be a raffle and an auction on the day, and it is hoped that those involved in participation on the day will purchase a raffle ticket or two and purchase a programme which is being prepared to mark this momentous occasion and celebrate all things Allstars.
This tournament is loosely called Tournoi2 with a tip of the cap to a tournament held at Southampton that the Allstars participated in. The competition on 11th August would not have been able to take place without the hard work of the tournament committee that includes Neal Holder, Steve Tee and David Pike. Nor could it occur without the engagement of the Positively Parkinson’s team that includes Vicky Knight and Allan Coe or the Eastergate Cricket Club .
This note is of course written in advance of the day. The high expectation of its success is drawn from the logical anticipation that those invited to represent the teams will respond in the generous and positive manner that those connected to Allstars cricket have always don
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Finally please note that any donations made on this page are not returnable. It is of course hoped that the weather, which of course there is no control over, will be kind. Naturally, every effort will be made to achieve some, and as much as possible, play on the day - but of course we shall be guided by our host club, Eastergate Cricket Club.
