Story
Our son died on the 4th May 2021 (his fifteenth birthday) after a period of depression that resulted in him taking his own life.
Starting on Saturday 12th August I am walking the one hundred and fifty mile Trent Valley way from Alkborough on Humberside to his hometown of Rugeley in Staffordshire in his memory.
Suicide is the most common cause of death for young men in the UK. The transition from childhood to adult is exceedingly difficult and can have tragic consequences.
I was unable to save our son, but I hope this walk might do something to raise awareness of the issue so that other people might be spared the kind of loss my family and I have suffered.
If you would like to get in touch my email is andrewrisbridger@googlemail.com
Also, I hope to raise some money for YESS (Your Emotional Support Service) a charity based in Uttoxeter who have helped my family and many others who are affected by mental health issues that can have such devastating consequences.
