Story

Thanks for taking time to visit our Fundraising Page.

We are a group of family and friends who are fundraising in Memory of Frank Robertson who sadly passed away in September 2025 and for a few others whose CHS stories will be added to the page.

Frank grew up with us from early primary school and remained a great friend until he suddenly passed away. The memory of 'Mr Blue Sky' will live with us forever!

Frank Robertson.

Frank had a bit of a rough time in December ‘24 and January’25 when he was admitted to hospital with clots in his lungs which caused him to suffer arterial fibrillation. He overcame his health issues and was making good progress and enjoyed a family holiday in August. He unexpectedly suffered a massive stroke days after his 63rd birthday. Instantly everything changed and he sadly passed away a few days later. As someone who was always raising funds for others he would have been honoured to help raise funds in his memory for Chest, Heart and Stroke, Scotland.

Gordon Robb.

On 27th September 2025 Gordon discovered he could't read when he sat down with a cup of tea to check some messages on his phone. He assumed this was due to tiredness and decided to check them later. The following day when the problem still persisted he decided to seek medical advice. His cousin (Frank's wife) and their daughter insisted that he when to A&E as soon as possible. To everyones surprise a scan quickly identified that Gordon had suffered an ICH (Intracerebral Hemorrage), simply a stroke caused by a bleed in the brain. Thankfully further investigation showed that the bleed had stopped and he was released from hospital a few days later. Since then Gordon has received support from various organisations including CHSS and is making good progress in his recovery. He will be participating in the Edinburgh Kilts Walk with the team to help raise funds for a worthy cause.

Bobby McGinty.

Another member of our team Bobby McGinty suffered major heart problems at the same time. You can donate to Bobby's fundraiser through the team fundraising page.

On 25th August 2025 Bobby had a massive Cardiac Arrest while on holiday with family in Orlando, Florida, USA. Quick CPR intervention by family kept Bobby alive until Paramedics took over and transferred him to hospital. Following a triple bypass and two grafts along with multiple organ failure Bobby survived and was eventually flown home. With the support of family and friends Bobby is making great progress and will be doing the Edinburgh Kilt Walk.
