Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the MND Association.
On 26th April I'll be taking part in the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
In 2023 Nottingham City Council adopted the MND Charter and I was pleased to speak in support of the motion at Full Council adopting the charter proposed by my colleagues Cllrs Nayab Patel & Linda Woodings.
Sadly MND also has a personal resonance to me. In 2016 we sadly last lost my stepfather Mike to MND. So I've chosen to run the marathon in his memory too.
By sponsoring me your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association. Any support you can give will be most gratefully appreciated and will help me meet the all important target.
Here are a few examples of what your support will mean in practical terms:
£28 would fund an MND Connect helpline advisor for one hour, allowing them to provide information and support for anyone affected by MND.
£85 funds software to enable someone with MND to bank thier own voice so they can continue to speak with their own voice.
£160 will buy a specialist communication app enabling someone who has lost the ability to speak to continue to communicate with others.
£1,000 will pay for detailed analysis of the DNA of someone with MND, to support our research.
If 70 people each contributed £10 it would fund equipment to enable an MND researcher to complete a months worth of research.
Thank you
Andrew
