Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the MND Association (Mid Kent Branch).
Please help me raise £5,000 for the local Mid Kent Branch of the MNDA.
My "Uncle" Allan lost his battle with Motor Neurone Disease (ALS) over 20 years ago and my "Auntie" Linda has been volunteering, fundraising for and supporting the local Mid-Kent Branch, ever since.
Auntie Linda is now courageously and gracefully fighting her own health battles, but continues to volunteer and support the Mid-Kent Branch of the MNDA.
Local Branches of the MNDA need financial support to fund essential services and grants for people living with MND and their carers. This support covers costs of equipment, housing adaptations and general quality of life improvements that are not fully covered by statutory services. Funding is also critical for providing support to unpaid carers and young people affected by the disease, as well as for operational costs associated with running a local support branch.
With all this in mind and to raise funds and awareness for the local branch of MNDA, I aim to run continuously, until I reach the distance of 170 miles, starting on the 13th November.
Why 170 miles? As families, we spent many amazing summers on holiday together in Burnham-on-Sea in the 1980’s…and 170 is the equivalent distance in miles from Burnham to Medway…so that’s why! 170 miles also represents a certain level of crazy that will hopefully help us raise enough money to hit the target! Plus, doctor's orders have said no running fast any more...so going long is the only option!
I will be starting the run at 10 AM on the 13th November and not stopping until the 170 miles is completed. To cover the distance, I will be running 5 mile loops during the day and 2 mile loops during the night, in Upchurch, Kent.
Please sponsor me and help me raise £5K for such an important and worthwhile cause!
