Andrew's fundraiser for The Lewy Body Society

Andrew Smith is raising money for The Lewy Body Society

Great North Run 2026 · 13 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Lewy body dementia is the second most common cause of age-related dementia, affecting around 130,000 people in the UK. We raise awareness of the disease, provide information to patients and carers, and fund research so that in future it can be more easily diagnosed and treated.

Story

I'm running the Great North Run Half Marathon for the first time, alongside fellow Big Finish writers Alfie Shaw, Lisa McMullin and Rob Valentine, to raise funds aid of the Lewy Body Society.

Please help me along, and support this magnificent charity, by donating. Any amount whatsoever would be gratefully received.

Training has been hampered by the hot weather,. This is also the longest distance I've attempted since breaking my foot last year, so it will be something of a tester on both fronts.

The Lewy Body Society was founded in 2006 to support research into Lewy body dementia and to raise awareness of the disease. We aim to educate the public, the medical professions and those in decision-making positions about the disease, which unfortunately is still not well known.
