Team: Celebrating 80 Years of Fletcher Moorland by supporting the Dougie Mac

Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac) is the only hospice in Staffordshire supporting Children, Young Adults & Adults. Care is given to patients who are living with a life-limiting illness at our two sites and in the community. We also provide support for patients families and their carers.

Story

80 Years. 100 Miles. One Very Questionable Candidate.

This year, Fletcher Moorland turns 80 🎉

To celebrate this incredible milestone, as a business, we’re aiming to raise £80,000, £1,000 for every year of operation. As part of this we’ll be completing an 80 Days Around the World Challenge.

It’s all for a charity that means the world to so many of us stokies: Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac).

So, here’s my fool hardy challenge… you’re welcome to laugh!

For every £20 donated, I will complete 1 mile

😅 …up to a maximum of 100 miles.

Now, I am far from some ultra-fit marathon machine.

I am:

Overweight

Asthmatic

Equipped with high blood pressure

And powered mainly by good intentions and stubbornness

In other words… the perfect candidate to self propel themselves to 100 miles.

But here’s where it gets interesting:

🎭 If we raise over £1,000, every mile from that point on I pledge to complete in a full MEERKAT SUIT (or other fancy dress).

Why I’m doing this

Dougie Mac has been there for so many people I know, from all ages and walks off life.

They’ve supported friends and family of mine through some of the hardest, most emotional moments imaginable. Their care, compassion and dignity changes lives every single day.

It costs £56,000 for just ONE day to provide that service.

One day.

That’s why this matters. That’s why I’m willing to push myself far beyond my comfort zone (and possibly into A&E).

Every Mile I push through will be converted into moments of care for people who need it most.

How you can help

💛 Donate whatever you can — every £20 gets me another mile closer (and potentially sweatier).

📣 Can’t donate? Please share this page and help spread the word.

Your support will:

Keep Dougie Mac doing their incredible work

Keep me running

And very possibly put me in a meerkat costume for an extended period of time

Which, let’s be honest, is worth the donation alone.

This is going to hurt. A lot.

It’s nothing compared to what so many families go through, and if through gaining blisters, wheezing and questionable life choices can help raise vital funds, then every step will be worth it.

Thank you so much for your support ❤️

This year, Fletcher Moorland is turning 80 and we’re doing it in style!

To celebrate our 80th year, we’re raising funds for Dougie Mac, a charity that provides life-changing care and support to people living with terminal illnesses. Every single day, it costs £56,000 to keep their vital services running. That’s a staggering amount!

We’ve big goals, with an to raise £1000 for each year we've been in business.

Our dream would be to smash £80,000.

We'll be hosting a Gala Dinner at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday 4th July, celebrating our 80th Anniversary and running a silent auction.

Will you join us?

Donate if you can, share our cause if you can’t! We’re going to make Fletcher Moorland’s 80th year truly unforgettable!
