Story
On behalf of Clitheroe RUFC and for the exclusive benefit of our chosen charity ‘Alzheimer’s UK’, we announce our next ‘Presidents Challenge’.
Every other year a small group of epic ‘fatigue junkies’ take on a monumental challenge, and this year on 23rd – 25th June, 6 of us intend to undertake our next adventure. Our quest roughly follows the route of a well-known extreme fell race. Our goal is to scale 42 MAJOR LAKELAND PEAKS in 3 days.
This endeavour will involve 66 miles of unforgiving terrain and will total 27,000 ft of climbing. This equates to the same amount of climbing as 2 laps of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on each of the three days!
This is by far our most extreme undertaking to date, with Helvellyn, Scafell Pike and Skiddaw in the mix.
This year’s chosen charity was agreed some months ago when CRUFC lost its inspirational past President Colin Silcock.
It is in his memory and to celebrate the strength and dignity with which he lived his life and latterly battled with Alzheimer’s that we aim to raise as much money as possible for ‘Alzheimer’s Society’.
Please see below links to our Just Giving page to the ‘Alzheimer’s Society’ to understand a little more about the great work they do.
Please give generously to help those touched by this cruel disease.
Lots of love,
‘The Presidents Challenge'
