National 3 Peaks Challenge

We are a group of parent volunteers who arrange various fundraising events to support the learning and enjoyment of pupils at Ashover Primary School.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are group of eleven fathers whose children attend Ashover Primary School, from nursery through to Year 6. The group contains two current governors and one former teacher.

Some of us have known each other for a while and other acquaintances have been made by chatting on the playground at home time. However, we really got to know each other through our shared interests in the outdoors, which in turn have lead to us hoping to attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge in the springtime.

For the uninitiated, the challenge involves tackling the highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales. Typically, it is completed by scaling Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak, before an ascent of Scafell Pike in the Lake District. It then culminates with a hike up Snowdon for a total of 23 miles, more than 10000 vertical metres and over 450 miles on the road. All within 24 hours.

As well as completing the challenge, we'd really love to to raise funds for the Friends of Ashover School. In the past, they have allocated money to school to provide new laptops, exercise equipment and to refurbish the arts and crafts room. Plans are currently underway to develop some of the outside space at school and being able to contribute to this cause would help to foster a love of the outdoors in Ashover children for years to come.

Our attempt will be supported by Anthony Gell School, a local secondary with a long standing commitment to outdoor education. AGS are kindly helping us with use of their minibus and a driver.
