Story
I’m going silent for Sue Lambert Trust. This February, during Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week (5-11 February) I will challenge myself to stay silent for 24 hours.
Sue Lambert Trust is a Norfolk charity that supports more than 250 people every week who have been sexually abused or who have experienced sexual violence, and want to access specialist, professional counselling, and therapeutic support which are delivered for free.
My 24 hour silence will begin on Sunday 4th February at 5pm.
I’m staying silent to show my support for survivors of abuse, many people suffer in silence for years or decades before speaking up about what happened to them, and getting the support they deserve and need to heal.
By staying silent, I will experience what it is like to hold words back – just for 24 hours. On average, we say between 7,000 and 20,000 words per day, so this is not going to be easy!
I've pledged to raise a minimum of £50 which supports the cost of one counselling session and I hope to raise £750.
