I am excited to share that I will be participating in the Sheffield 10K on September 28, 2025, to support St Luke's - Sheffield's Hospice. This incredible charity provides compassionate care and support to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Their work is vital, ensuring that no one has to face this journey alone.

“I have always loved running and used it for various reasons, including fitness and

mental health,” he says.

“Up to December 2021 I was extremely fit and healthy and was running five or six

times a week, comfortably entering and completing half marathons.

“However, in the last three years I have really struggled with my running - even

running a Park Run 5k is extremely hard going, due to a long-term chronic illness.”

Now, though, Andy is back in training and looking forward to taking on the Sheffield

10k challenge on September 28.

“In order to provide me with additional motivation and raise money and awareness

for the incredible St Luke’s Hospice, I have given myself a target of running the

whole of the Sheffield 10k without stopping,” he says.

“This may not seem much of a big challenge to some but to me this - I do know this

is an achievable goal thanks to the fabulous help and support of running friends and

work colleagues with my 16 weeks training plan.

“I know so many families that have had to use the facilities that St Luke’s offers and

through organising fundraising events at the University, I have seen first-hand the

incredible professional services the hospice provides.”
