NEC UK supports families affected by the condition at any stage of their journey. Our objectives are to support research, raise awareness and developing relationships with other organisations to give NEC a platform to be heard and improve the outcomes for babies affected by NEC and their families.

Story

Necrotising enterocolitis (NEC) is a serious, life-threatening illness in which tissues in the intestine (gut) become inflamed and start to die. It is a disease that strikes suddenly and develops rapidly, with no clear cause.

When caught and treated early, most babies with NEC can go on to lead normal lives, however it is sadly life changing in many babies despite ongoing efforts to raise awareness and improve detection.

NEC UK supports families affected by the condition at any stage of their journey. They support research, raise awareness and develop relationships with other organisations to give NEC a platform to be heard and improve the outcomes for babies affected by NEC and their families.
