Story

Andy and Emma Hallam are embarking on an incredible journey, taking on the "London to Paris 2025" Cycle Ride Challenge to raise vital funds for the Alex's Wish Innovative Medical Grant Call.

Despite the advancements in treatments for boys living with Duchenne, we still need better options and ultimately a cure to conquer this disease once and for all!

Our son Alex, is now 18 years old, is doing remarkably well considering his condition. However, we are determined to extend his life for as long as possible. This can only be achieved through the promise of new effective treatments that can combat this devastating disease.

Currently, he relies on a wheelchair full-time, but if we can maintain his stability at this point, he can continue to live life to the fullest.

Duchenne is a progressive disease that primarily affects his legs at present; however, we know it will eventually impact his arms and every muscle in his body. We must act swiftly to halt muscle wasting!

Alex's Wish is tirelessly working alongside Duchenne UK to bring about a cure for every child and young adult affected by this condition. The average lifespan for boys with Duchenne is just in their mid-twenties—this is simply unacceptable! We must do better! Our efforts in the saddle pale in comparison to what these brave boys endure daily.

We kindly ask you to give generously if you can; every single penny will make a significant difference in our fight against Duchenne. Together, let’s strive towards raising as much money as we can for this crucial cause and bring hope where it’s needed most.
