we all completed safely. About 10-11 h on the bike. Very hot. We each did about 5000m vertical over almost 200km in high heat. The final climb up alpe d’Huez to the finish line was brutal. But we made it and have raised over £5000. Thank you all for support and also the RLSS and associated people and agencies that promote safe swimming and CPR training.

We are doing La Marmotte altogether for the Royal Life Saving Society to help support their amazing work in many life saving endeavours. Particularly chose RLSS after George's Shallow Water Blackout in 2022 (https://underwaterhypoxicblackout.org/survivor-memorial-stories/survivors/george-baker/) when George suffered a cardiac arrest after holding his breath underwater too long. We are hoping to raise awareness of this safety issue, promote safe swimming and the important of CPR skills if something like this does happen. There is a very high fatality rate for Shallow Water Blackout.

La Marmotte is about 175km through the Alps, 4 main climbs in a single day, ending on the top of Alpe D'Huez (5500m vertical ascent in total). It can be rather hot too!
