Story
What on Earth am I doing?
Hey Friends,
This weekend 13th & 14th September, I’ll be attempting something slightly mad: A 100km non-stop Thames Path Challenge (with brief pauses for blister maintenance and emotional breakdowns). In my head that's 20 Park Runs!
Why?
To raise vital funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) — a charity doing life-changing work to support families and fund research into this devastating disease.
I’d be hugely grateful if you could spare a few of your hard-earned shekels to back them and me on this journey.
As a former egg-chaser and proud part of the mighty Harlequins, I’ve been deeply moved by the courage of rugby players and families affected by MND.
More personally, we recently lost someone from my hometown of Teddington who fought MND with incredible bravery. This walk is my small way of honouring her and standing with her family — and everyone battling this cruel disease. Their strength is nothing short of heroic.
The Route
Starting in Putney, I’ll follow the Thames Path through, Richmond, Kingston Hampton Court, Runnymede, Windsor, Maidenhead, Marlow, then hopefully after 22 - 24 hrs of pain, laughter and questioning my life choices, I'll collapse into a pint of Brakspear’s in Henley-on-Thames.
I hope to see some of you along the route. You can follow me on the Live Trail App - bib number #1084
Update: New trainers are broken in, weekend training walks of 30Km around Bushy and Richmond Park and along the beautiful Camel Trail in Padstow are in the bank and wonderful and generous sponsors are signing up, there’s no turning back now.
I’m genuinely blown away by the support so far and hope, with your help, to smash my £6K target
Thank You
Bramps
