Andy's fundraiser for Moebius Research Trust

Andy Dennis is raising money for Moebius Research Trust

Great North Run 2025 · 7 September 2025 ·

Moebius Syndrome is a rare congenital disorder which to date, has no cure. It affects primarily the 6th & 7th cranial nerves, which means that those with the condition are unable to move their faces (can't smile, frown, suck, grimace or blink eyes). We aim to raise £250,000 to fund research into the cause of Moebius.

Story

Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page.

On the 21st August 2025, my 2-year-old son was diagnosed with Moebius Syndrome — a very rare condition that affects only around 200 people in the UK. Moebius Syndrome is a congenital neurological disorder that causes facial paralysis and limits eye movement. This can mean being unable to smile, move the eyelids, or look from side to side, and it often makes speech and communication more difficult.

I’ve been lucky enough to secure a last-minute place in the Great North Run in Newcastle upon Tyne, and I’ll be running to raise vital funds and awareness. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world.

As a parent, I worry about the challenges my son may face — from low confidence and social isolation to misunderstandings, emotional struggles, and sadly, even the risk of bullying. By supporting this cause, you can help create more awareness, acceptance, and support for children like William.
