Story
On May 14th 2004, I underwent a life-saving stem cell transplant for leukaemia. I've been cancer free ever since and this year marks 20 years in remission - something I'm very proud of. To mark being 20 years leukaemia free I'm looking to raise funds for the brilliant Blood Cancer UK who work tirelessly to help support people affected by blood cancer.
They are also at the forefront of the effort to fund pioneering research that will help develop new treatments that mean more people will get to enjoy a second chance at life like me.
On my part, I'm going to run for 20 minutes, walk for 20 minutes and cycle for 20 minutes without stopping in the hope that that might encourage a few of you to dig into your virtual wallet and make a donation.
I appreciate that 60 minutes exercise doesn't sound like the hardest of challenges but I assure you that it is a MASSIVE test for me. One of the long-term side effects of my treatment is a progressive lung disease that has seen me go from being able to run marathons to struggling to run 3k without being out of breath. I haven't run continuously for 20 minutes for more than a year and I can't remember the last time I did 60 minutes continuous cardio.
So please do consider making a donation to support a very worthy cause that is leading the fight against blood cancer.
