Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
With a big birthday coming up in May, I wanted to do something that felt meaningful rather than just marking the occasion. So I’ve signed up for a bit of a challenge.
First up is Ironman South Africa on April 19th - a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and a full marathon. And then, because it's a big milestone, I’m planning to come back and add a fourth element by rowing a marathon on the Thames.
I won't be setting any records - and with a nagging calf injury - the run may turn into a hobble, plus I'm a terrible rower in a single boat... but if it's possible to complete it, I will.
All this is to raise funds for Well Windsor, a local charity that I lead as Chair of Trustees - focused on improving children’s mental wellbeing. The idea behind it is simple: that children do better when they are surrounded by strong relationships, consistent support, and a community that shows up for them.
In Windsor, like much of the UK, we’re seeing more and more children struggling - and schools increasingly acting as a kind of 'fourth emergency service'. Well Windsor is trying to take a different approach by supporting early, working through schools, and building a stronger sense of community around young people so issues escalate less in the first place. Although this is primarily Windsor-based, we''re hoping the impact we have could be applicable to other towns around the country in the future.
If you’re able to support, it would be hugely appreciated.
