Story

I'm Taking on Race the Sun Yr Wyddfa

This summer, I've decided that a nice, relaxing weekend just isn't for me. Instead, along with my brother Jason, friends Chis Bancroft and Darren Fletcher, we'll be summiting Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the UK's highest peak outside Scotland at over 1,000m, cycling until our legs beg for mercy, and then—just for fun—jumping in a kayak to round it all off. And we have to do all of this before the sun sets. But there's a great reason!

What's the Challenge?

First up: the hike. We'll tackle a 9-mile (14.5 km) round trip to the summit of Yr Wyddfa, climbing over 1,000 meters. After taking in the views (and gasping for air), we'll head straight back down and onto our bikes.

Then comes the cycling—an 30-mile (48 km) route with a total ascent of nearly 2,000 meters on winding roads that will have our legs questioning all of our life choices. And just when we think we're done, we'll grab our paddles and attempt to kayak 2 miles (3.2 km) without capsizing (no promises).

Why Are We Doing This?

We're taking on this challenge to raise funds for seriously ill children and their families, helping them access vital care, support, and life-enhancing experiences. Many children face daily battles with illness, and their families go through unimaginable hardships. The money we raise will help provide medical assistance, emotional support, and special moments that bring joy and relief in the toughest times.

How You Can Help

We’d love your support—whether that’s a donation, a share, or just reminding us that we signed up for this madness willingly. Every penny raised will keep us moving forward (along with copious amounts of snacks) and, most importantly, will help change lives.

If you can, please donate and be part of this adventure with us.

Thank you for the support—and wish us luck, because we're going to need it!
