Story
This vital service is on call 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day, responding to some of the most serious incidents in Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire. The service receives no Government funding and relies solely on donations.
Operational costs are £13m per year, with an average amount of 4 missions every day. Between 23 Dec 2025 and 1st Jan 2026 the crew were called out 55 times, 13 of which were on 29th Dec alone.
Each takes off costs £4000, and roughly half that for one of their two critical care cars. In Summer 2027 they will be receiving a second helicopter, meaning that each county will have its own airframe.
To raise funds I will be walking the the Rutland Round over 2 days. This is a circular walk of 65 miles round England's smallest county, Rutland.
