Story
On 1 November 2026, a small team of us will take on a remarkable personal challenge involving the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run 2026 and a cycle ride. One of us (me) will set off from Hyde Park in a 126-year-old Victorian De Dion motorcar (affectionately known as CRT this year in memory of Chris Rhind-Tutt who masterminded and supported us entirely when I fell seriously ill last year and who tragically passed away unexpectedly in February), with a navigator and "pusher for the hills" along with separate support crew in the tender vehicle, while Andy Williams will ride a standard non-electric bicycle from Salisbury to Brighton with a second support team tracking him. We will begin together at 7:00am, sharing live progress with supporters along the way, and doing our best to keep going through whatever the day brings.
The CRT driving team will comprise of myself, Daniel RT, Matt RT, Ollie Hill and Henry Fryer and Andy will be riding solo.
This challenge is about more than reaching Brighton. It is about raising vital funds for the Rotary Club of Wilton Trust Fund, with every donation helping to support community projects and causes that make a real difference. The Rotary Club will receive all gift aid raised, and the net funds shared through the club will support the Stars Appeal children's unit, Salisbury Hospice Charity, The British Heart Foundation, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, Wilton RDA, and South Wilts Mencap. Each of these charities has touched our lives, or the lives of people close to us, and we want this effort to honour that impact in a meaningful way.
We would love to raise £5,000, and every contribution will help us move closer to that goal. If you are able, please support our fundraising page and help us turn this personal challenge into something that benefits others. Your generosity no matter how large or small will encourage us every mile of the journey and your support will make a lasting difference.
As an added bonus, anyone who donates is welcome to message with their guess for the time the first of us will cross the finish line. If you guess correctly, we will send you a Christmas hamper as a thank-you.
Thank you for your support, encouragement, and belief in this challenge. Together, we can make this journey one of fun, purpose, hope, and community impact.
