Working with the East of England Ambulance Service, the charity supports local ambulance stations and other healthcare initiatives. The charity also serves the Community First Responder (CFR) groups in east of England region. Local CFR volunteers are trained in first on scene lifesaving skills.

Story

Community first responders are volunteers who are trained by the East of England Ambulance Service to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work. Their aim is to reach a potential life threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.

Manea community first responders respond to 999 calls in Manea, Chatteris, Doddington, Wimblington, Tips End, Welney to name a few. Community first responders are trained to assess patients observations and can then relay this to ambulance control to update information to ensure any additional response required is requested for the patient.

In addition we look after all of the automated external defibrillators (AED) in Manea which require regular checks, maintenance and restocking which is funded by the Manea CFR group which can cost hundreds of pounds a year.

The TTP Cambridge Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 3 March 2024. Hosting more than 12000 people undertaking the 13.1 (don’t forget the .1) mile course and takes in four University of Cambridge Colleges – Kings, Jesus, St John’s and Trinity.
