Story

Back in the Water (Yes, Really) — 24hr Wild Swim Relay 2026

Last year, I said “never again”… and yet here we are.

I’m taking on the 24-hour wild swim relay again — open water, relay format, cold temperatures, dark hours, and all the things I swore I’d learned my lesson from the first time round.

What started as rehab for a shoulder injury somehow turned into a yearly tradition involving wetsuits, head torches, very cold water, and a complete loss of common sense. The difference this year? I actually know what I’m signing up for — the night swims, the fatigue, the constant cycle of drying off and getting cold again, and the mental battle of getting back in the water when your body is begging for sleep.

But I’m doing it again for a reason.

I’m proud to be fundraising for Support Level Water, a UK-based charity that gives children with disabilities the opportunity to learn to swim through tailored one-to-one lessons. Swimming isn’t just a sport — for these children it can be transformative, helping with physical development, confidence, resilience and independence that positively impacts life both in and out of the water.

Access to swimming lessons isn’t something every child takes for granted. Level Water works with pools, teachers and supporters across the UK to make lessons inclusive, affordable and effective — because every child deserves the chance to fall in love with the water.

This event pushes me physically and mentally, but more importantly, it helps fund something truly meaningful — real opportunities for children who might otherwise miss out. That’s worth every chilly dip at 3am.

If you’re able to donate, I’d massively appreciate it. Every contribution helps support Level Water’s mission and gives more children the chance to learn to swim, build confidence and enjoy the water for life.

Thank you for the support — and wish me luck (again).
