Story
This cause means a lot to both of us. Richard's dad, Michael, was a kind and loving man who dedicated almost 40 years of his life to the fire service. He always put others first, both in his work and in his family life. After a long 9-year journey with Alzheimer’s, Mike passed away peacefully in April 2025 at the age of 73. He is deeply missed by everyone who knew him, and we’re proud to honour his memory through this fundraiser.
Our father-in-law Steve is also currently living with Alzheimer's. Seeing someone you care about slowly lose pieces of who they are is incredibly difficult. Sadly, it’s something too many families are facing.
He was diagnosed in 2022 at just 62 years old with early-onset dementia. It’s been heartbreaking to witness the changes, and it’s a constant reminder of how precious our memories and connections really are.
We’re both taking on the Manchester Half Marathon on October 12th to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. This will be Richard’s first half marathon, and we’re putting in the miles with this cause close to our hearts.
Alzheimer’s Society helps people living with dementia today, supports the families who care for their loved ones and funds vital research to work towards a future without it. Every donation, no matter the size, really does make a difference.
Thank you so much for your support.
