Kids for Kids Stride For Darfur

Andy Caudell is raising money for Kids for Kids

Stride For Darfur · 1 August 2026

Kids for Kids transforms the lives of children and families in rural villages of Darfur through a range of sustainable projects designed & implemented by the communities themselves. Goats give milk for malnourished children. We provide access to clean water, train midwives, plant trees & lots more!

Story

Every morning, somewhere in a remote village in Darfur, Sudan, a child will awake from sleep, leave their bed before their young brothers and sisters stir, before the searing sun has fully set in the sky, and they will pick up a water can and start walking. And walk. And walk further, maybe as much as 20 miles across an arid and unforgiving desert. Their job is a simple one - find and return with water for their family. For without that water, the family would be unable to survive.

So, it is a simple choice. Walk, or the unthinkable consequence would become real...

During the month of August of this year I am going to recreate this walk, 20 miles carrying a heavy jerrycan, on as many days as my body will allow. A walk that no child in Darfur should have to face. Together we can shine a light on the unimaginable hardship that these communities experience daily, in a Sudan ravaged by an internal conflict that is in its fourth year and the cause of such terror in the lives of the forgotten children of Darfur.

Kids for Kids exists to release the burden of this walk for water from every child, every family, every community. With your help, we can install handpumps in the villages for clean drinking water, provide goat loans with their protein-rich milk to prevent malnutrition in young children, allow mothers a chance to become economically independent through selling the extra goat's milk.

In 25 years we have adopted 110 villages, providing sustainable projects that have touched more than 600,000 lives...and we are only just getting started. We can train midwives and build healthcare units. We even build kindergartens - education is a route out of poverty, and we help communities take that first step, unlocking the potential that exists within them.

When the world's media looks away...we must not...
