My friend Ian Pratt had the shocking news in 2012 at age 42 that he had MND, a disgusting debilitating and ultimately fatal illness. He fought like a genuine hero, taking part in numerous events, trials, educating people and ultimately creating his own Foundation http://www.ianprattmndf.org to support families impacted by this awful illness and contribute to targeted research. He passed away in May 2020 and have always maintained that I would support his Foundation, by swimming the Solent, when my health gave me a window of opportunity.
