Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Images in my Gallery are from my first ever 5K run last year at Port Sunlight.
On Sunday the 15th of March I will be taking part in my first (and probably last) half marathon. I am not a runner per se so this is quite the challenge for me.
I am running the half marathon to raise funds to support ANDYSMANCLUB.
AndysManClub takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. They discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 54, with male mental health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK.
His family came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB, a group where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their mental health in a judgment-free, non-clinical environment.
Groups now operate nationwide and are completely volunteer-led, with all group facilitators having first interacted with ANDYSMANCLUB when they came through the door as a service user.
I have personally known men in my age bracket who have taken the decision to end their life and also friends who are struggling with their mental well being.
This year AndysManClub is the chosen charity for 41 Club also known as The Association of Ex Round Tabler's of which I am an active member and delighted & proud to be running on behalf of.
Please donate whatever you can afford as this will spur me on to do something which is well and truly out of my comfort zone.
Thank you for your donation it is truly appreciated.
Andy
