Andy's beard-shave for Menfulness, York RLFC Foundation and Life For A Kid Foundation

Matty Lewis is raising money for Menfulness

Beard Shave · 14 September 2025

We bring men together to socialise, exercise, talk and let off steam in a non-judging, friendly and supportive environment. These are all essential for wellbeing and health, both physical and mental. We remove barriers for men to access counselling in order to help deal with the challenges of life.

Story

Andy Nelson - well known for being a York Knights photographer - has never been without a beard for as long as most have known him. This year, Andy wants to raise money for three local causes, and is shaving off his huge beard to fundraise. The three causes are:

* Menfulness - a York based men's mental health charity providing proactive events and activities, and profession life changing counselling.

* York RLFC Foundation - promoting health and wellbeing through Rugby League in communities across Yorkshire.

* Life For a Kid Foundation - a Hull based Foundation supporting children with severe learning difficulties, to give them a better quality of life.

With a modest target of £300 (£100 per charity), Andy will have his beard shaved off at half time during the York Knights v Batley Bulldogs match at York's LNER Community Stadium on Sunday 14th September 2025, in the fanzone (inside turnstiles 1-6 in the main East Stand).

Any donation helps - thank you!

Please note: As JustGiving only allows the page to select one charity, Menfulness will divide the total into three and, donate to the two Foundations after the big shave!
