Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are raising money for London Children's Ballet (LCB) by walking John’s dance journey route like last year during May half term- when it is the LCB intensive rehearsal week. I will be walking the full distance of approximately 20 miles, and John will be joining me for a section of the walk from LCB where he will be rehearsing on the day- likely to take place on Friday 29 May. All proceeds will go to LCB.

In recent years, John has been very fortunate in having the opportunity to perform in the London Children’s Ballet productions as a lead role in ‘Snow White’ in 2023 and in 'Anne of Green Gables' in 2022 with several supporting roles. In July, he is appearing as a guest artist in ‘Anne of Green Gables’ playing the role of Matthew (Anne’s adopted dad). All productions take place in the West End at Peacock Theatre, London.

LCB was John’s first professional ballet production which in itself opened countless new experiences and learning opportunities for him. It influenced him personally by giving valuable insight into this career and confirming this is the path he wants to follow, since previously we had questioned this due to his Type 1 Diabetes;

The route I will be walking is mainly alongside the river Thames but will take in key locations relevant to John’s dance journey, starting at Chiswick. The first significant location will be ArtsEd where he used to take weekly ballet classes with London Junior and Senior Ballet, and I will then be walking to Peacock Theatre and then back to Chiswick. The route will be along the River Thames and take in Royal Academy of Dance where John attended classes with Senior Scholars and Advanced 1; then London Chidren’s Ballet, and the Peacock Theatre. Subject to John’s rehearsal timings, he will either be joining me at the start from Chiswick to LCB or from LCB to Chiswick. I will be walking the rest of the route from LCB to Peacock Theatre and back on my own.

LCB is a registered charity, and we would like to raise money for them to continue with their amazing efforts of offering dance performances in schools, care homes and providing dance productions. They give children with a passion and talent for ballet the opportunity to dance in the West End and train free of charge with leading professionals.

Please consider a donation so that they can continue providing these opportunities of dancing on a stage regardless of financial background and taking ballet into communities it may not have been otherwise.

If you would like to watch John in this year’s production, here is the ticket link, and he would be very appreciative of your support either by watching, donations to LCB, or messages. Thank you :)
