We provide specialist end-of-life care, and a wide range of support services, to over 1,200 people who are living with a life-limiting illness in the Wigan Borough. Many patients are cared for in their own homes, although we also care for people living in care homes and in our In-Patient Unit.

Story

On 6th July 2024, our family lost the most wonderful Mum, Wife, Daughter, Daughter-in-Law, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Auntie, Niece and friend.

Angela was the most courageous, humorous and loving character. She was the centre of her family and had the ability to take the sunshine everywhere she went. Unfortunately, after a two and a half year battle with cancer, she gained her angel wings.

Alex (Angela's eldest Son) decided he wanted to take on a challenge to raise money for Wigan & Leigh Hospice who cared so incredibly for his Mum. As his older cousin, Georgia wasn't going to let him do this alone.

On Saturday, 14th September 2024, both Alex & Georgia will be participating in the Wigan and Leigh Hospice FIREWALK challenge. Walking barefoot across hot embers at around 1200 degrees fahrenheit.

Wigan and Leigh Hospice are a registered charity serving people across Wigan borough who have been diagnosed with an illness which is no longer curable. They believe passionately in providing care suited to every patient’s unique needs.

Wigan and Leigh Hospice need to raise over £4.4million every year to continue providing all of their services.

They receive less than a third of their income from the NHS. The rest - £12,000 every day - has to be raised with support from the local community.

All donations are greatly received, thank you.
