Story
In 2013 The Metcalf Cup was introduced to celebrate the history of RGS Newcastle and The Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation competing against each at other rugby, which had been happening long before 2013. It was named the Metcalf Cup after Richard Metcalf who was instrumental in the running of both Durham University and RGS Newcastle.
Unlike pervious years where we have had a cost associated with watching the match at Kingston Park we have decided it would be fitting to raise money for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. A charity which is close to the rugby community and also recently to the RGS and Novos rugby community after losing Steve Lawson to MND. Steve was a key figure at Novos and a keen rugby player during his time at RGS.
There has been some great work done through the My Name'5 is Doddie Foundation and also Kevin Seinfield in his quest to help his dear friend Rob Burrow. We would like to do our bit by raising as much money as possible to help fund vital research into this cruel illness. As well as giving a donation for tickets, there will be a bucket collection on the night and some challenges to take part in.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
