We are two very good friends from university taking on this challenge, running together to raise vital funds for Brain Research UK.

Someone close to Angharad is living with a brain tumour. Unlike many other cancers, research for brain cancer has been underfunded and progress has been slow. However, immunotherapy treatments that train the body’s own immune system to fight cancer are now being applied by scientists to brain tumour trials.

Brain Research UK is funding cutting-edge projects such as reprogramming immune cells in the brain to stop them helping tumours grow and instead turn them into tumour-fighters, or using an engineered virus to both destroy cancer cells and flag resistant tumour stem cells to the immune system. Studies like these aim to overcome two of the biggest barriers in brain tumour treatment, immune evasion and treatment resistance. Every pound raised brings us closer to treatments that offer real hope to patients and their families.

We have both taken on marathons before, but this one will be different and emotional because of the cause we are running for. We will cross the start and finish lines together!
