Story

In 2024 I trekked in the Indian Himalayas to raise money for cancer services at The Royal United Hospital, Bath.
I have been raising money towards Cancer Services at the hospital since 2011 following my husbands diagnosis with cancer that year. The treatment he was given was second to none but the facilities were dated and needed improvement and the RUHX (previously Forever Friends) official hospital charity launched a fundraising campaign to build a brand new cancer treatment centre, I’m so proud to say the Dyson Cancer Centre opened in 2024 and the fundraising I have done since 2011 played a small but important part in its build.
In February 2026 I will be taking on my next challenge and trekking the Great Rift Valley in Kenya, trekking approximately 90km over 5 days, climbing an extinct volcano and exploring 3 national parks. I think the heat (and possibly more wildlife than India) will be a big challenge but the end will be so worth it.
Cake sales, book sales, golf days and a burns night supper are just some of the fundraising events planned for this year.
14 years after treatment at the Royal United Hospital for cancer my husband is still cancer free.
Thank you for being so generous supporting and sponsoring me, while this fight against cancer continues.
RUHX is the official charity of the Royal United Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
At RUHX, were more than a hospital charity. We go further to give every patient the extra extraordinary care they deserve, while supporting our staff to do what they do best and furthering innovation within our hospitals. Were out there in our community, collaborating with the people and organisations who drive real change. And were making sure that every penny we raise goes towards improving health, happiness and wellbeing for everyone in our community.
