Ash and I are abseiling down Derby Cathedral to raise money for Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity.

It’s going to be a challenge for myself more than Ash as he’s a lot braver than me and I’ve not actually thought about how I’m going to be able to do it but I’ve told too many people that I need to see it through!

Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity is an amazing charity that I’m so proud to work for. Before I started this job, I thought that everything that happened in a hospital and all of its resources were NHS funded but I now know that they are not. There is so much that NHS funding cannot cover and that’s where this wonderful charity comes in and I’ve seen first-hand the amount of initiatives Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity funds, there’s so many but to name a few - cold caps for patients undergoing chemotherapy, therapy animal visits, introducing new services such as a new contrast enhanced mammography, art and music on the wards, beds for parents staying with children who are unwell, staff development and wellbeing. The list goes on and it’s all about making the hospital experience as comfortable as possible.
