I’m taking on the Aigüestortes Thousand Lakes Trek to raise funds for the Chiltern Centre in Henley-on-Thames
Since October 2024, I’ve been training hard for this challenge – starting with the Couch to 5K programme, having not been able to run in over 10 years due to my back condition, adding regular strength training, and taking on specific hike preparation. I’m now a run leader for the Henley Slow Run Club, helping beginners start their own running journeys, and I signed up for an 8-week “Learn to Row” programme to improve my cardio fitness… and I’m now hooked!
Now, all this training is leading to one incredible adventure – a five-day trek through the spectacular Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici in the Spanish Pyrenees, part of the famous Carros de Foc circuit.
This route will take me over high mountain passes (up to 2,833m), across rocky boulder fields, along meadows bursting with alpine flowers, past countless sparkling lakes, and through ancient pine forests. It’s graded as physically tough, with long days (up to 9 hours trekking) and carrying my own pack over steep and uneven terrain – a real test of fitness, stamina, and determination. Nights will be spent in remote mountain refuges where we’ll refuel, and prepare to do it all again the next day.
I have fully funded the trek myself, so every single penny raised will go directly to the Chiltern Centre – a local Henley-on-Thames charity providing vital support for young people with disabilities and offering their families essential respite care.
Your sponsorship will make a real difference to this wonderful charity and help me turn all those hours of training into something even more meaningful.
If you can, please support me – every donation, no matter the size, will help the Chiltern Centre continue its amazing work.
Thank you so much for your support – now to conquer those mountains!
