Story
I am honored to be running the Cardiff Half Marathon 2026 on 4 October 2026, supporting the incredible Cardiff & Vale Health Charity. This half marathon is more than just a race for me; it is a chance to give back to the dedicated staff and vital services that have touched my life personally.
Cardiff & Vale Health Charity plays a crucial role in enhancing healthcare across all wards, departments, hospitals, community services, and research areas throughout Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Every step I take in this half marathon will help raise funds to improve facilities, support essential projects, and ensure patients receive the best possible care.
My motivation runs deep: recently, my brother suffered a cardiac arrest in the community and was saved by the swift actions of local residents. Despite his traumatic brain injury from the fall, he survived against all odds thanks to the exceptional care provided by the staff at University Hospital of Wales. His journey of rehabilitation was sadly cut short after battling bravely for just over 5 weeks. We are devastated but so grateful for the efforts and support of all staff at Cardiff and Vale Heath Board.
This experience has shown me firsthand how vital these services are. By sponsoring my run with a donation towards my target of £500, you are not only encouraging me but also directly contributing to making healthcare better for thousands across Wales who need their care and support.
By Supporting my run and Cardiff and Vale Health Charity, you will be helping me keep my brother alive in all our hearts and honouring him and his life. He was a wonderfully kind and gentle soul who was loved by everyone who knew him. I'm running to help me deal with this unfathomable and unfair loss of such a glorious human at such a ridiculously young age.
Please join me in supporting Cardiff & Vale Health Charity so we can together Make It Better for patients like my brother and countless others who depend on this life-saving care every day.
