Story
Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis is one of the hardest experiences a person and their loved ones can face. At Weston Hospicecare, specialist palliative care teams provide compassionate social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical support, ensuring no one has to face this journey alone.
We are taking part in the Mendip Challenge in memory of a colleague, whose experience has reminded us just how vital hospice care is—not only for patients, but for the families, friends and colleagues who support them. Out of respect, no personal details are shared, but their influence and spirit are very much part of why this challenge matters to us.
Only 20% of Weston Hospicecare’s funding comes from the NHS, meaning £5.5 million must be raised every year to continue providing care free of charge. This is only possible thanks to the generosity and kindness of the local community.
The Mendip Challenge is a fantastic sponsored event that brings people together to challenge themselves and raise vital funds. With 30, 20, 10 and 5 mile routes along the beautiful West Mendip Way, it’s open to individuals, teams, families and even dogs.
Every step taken helps ensure Weston Hospicecare can continue being there when people need it most. By supporting this challenge, you’re helping to make a real difference in memory of someone who reminds us why this care matters so much.
