3 Peaks. 24 Hours. One Cause Very Close to My Heart.

Next weekend, I’ll be taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge — climbing the highest peaks across Scotland, England and Wales in just 24 hours — to raise money for MORCure, a cause incredibly close to my heart.

Since founding MORCure, I’ve had the privilege of speaking to countless families living with MORC2-related disease. I’ve heard stories of children facing an unimaginable level of hospitalisation, trauma, uncertainty and pain. Their bravery never ceases to amaze me.

But for me, it is the stories of the children that hit home the hardest.

I’ve watched Amber face the daily challenges of MORC2, including the terrible falls and head injuries she has endured whilst learning to walk. I have been continually humbled by the determination she shows simply to keep moving forward.

So, this time, I thought it was only right that I put myself through a little personal discomfort too.

And I won’t be doing it alone.

Our son Sammy, aged 9, will be taking on a night ascent of Snowdon with his friends. For a young person, this is a huge challenge. But he wants to do it for his sister and that says everything about the strength, love and determination that exists within this community.

The 3 Peaks will be tough. Snowdon in the dark will be tough. But these challenges are nothing compared with what children and families living with MORC2 face every single day.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help MORCure continue its work supporting the global MORC2 community, raising awareness, connecting families and helping to build a better future for those affected by this devastating disease.
