Story
Welcome to my fundraising page for CoppaFeel!
In November 2023 I found a lump in my breast and was diagnosed with primary breast cancer shortly afterwards. I was 36 years old.
By November 2024 I'd had chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy with further treatment still to complete. I’m 37 and in a medical menopause.
In November 2025 I will set out on a 100km trek across 5 days in the Sahara Desert, in a bid to raise funds towards CoppaFeel's life-saving mission. I’ll be 38 and still 12 years off the UK’s breast screening programme.
In my early thirties I remember walking along the prom in late 2018/early 2019 and listening to Kris and Fearne chat on the Happy Place podcast, empathising with her story, knowing I should continue to advocate for myself, but not really thinking it would happen to me, worrying I was wasting their time each time I made an appointment.
I never liked checking my breasts but I knew I should. After my underarm had been aching all day, I found the lump on a Saturday evening. I made an appointment on the Monday morning and was referred to the breast clinic the same day. They say it was found early! I was 36 when I was diagnosed and this had been my third visit to the breast clinic since 2017.
Your donations will not only support my fundraising target, but most importantly CoppaFeel!. They are on a mission to stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer by making sure that young people are regularly checking their boobs, pecs and chests and getting to know their bodies in order to have the confidence to see their GP if something just doesn't feel normal.
Thanks so much for your donation & support. To find out more about CoppaFeel! head to www.coppafeel.org.
