Story
In June 2022, Anna’s then 6 year old daughter Izzie suffered a sudden brain haemorrhage due to a previously undiagnosed Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) - she was quickly transferred to Ward E40, Paediatric Neurosurgery, at Queens Medical Centre.
The staff on E40, together with the Neurosurgical team, looked after and supported us through 8 days of inpatient care, diagnosis and have been amazing with any queries and support since then, as we have battled with the effects of Izzie’s diagnosis and the Acquired Brain Injury she sustained from the haemorrhage that she will live with for the rest of her life.
Update July 2024:
After recent admission again to QMC for worrying neurological symptoms, further MRI scans showed that despite Izzie undergoing almost 3 hours of Stereotactic Radiation Surgery in September 2022, the blood flow through her AVM persists. Whilst this is the case, she remains at risk of further life-changing brain haemorrhages so she will be under the care of QMC’s Paediatric Neurosurgery team for some time.
Thank you all for your generous donations which will help QMC ward E40 to continue the incredible work that they do to support families like ours ❤️.
