Hello! My name is Alice Capstick and I’m 12 years old.

On Saturday 24 May, I am hoping to sail solo from Jersey to France in a small sailing dinghy – something I’ve dreamed of doing before I turn 13! I’ll be setting off from St Catherine’s and sailing across to Carteret in Normandy. The journey will take around 5 hours, and although I’ll be completely on my own in the dinghy, I’ll have a compass for navigation, safety equipment and a support boat following from a distance to make sure I’m safe.

I’m doing this challenge to raise money for the Jersey Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, which is the chosen charity for Matthew House at my school, St Michael’s. MND is a devastating condition, and the Jersey branch works incredibly hard to support local people and their families.
