Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over the Summer I’m taking on a Swim22 Challenge. I’ll be swimming the distance of the English Channel (22 miles, 1,416 lengths, over 12 weeks or less) all in support of an amazing charity close to my heart, DDX3X Support UK.

My daughter, Jessica, has DDX3X Syndrome and is the inspiration for this challenge! She loves water and being in a pool, which is her happy place. We go swimming a lot and it’s helped me fall back in love with swimming too. For those who know me well you’ll know fitness/sport isn’t something that comes naturally, so this really is a challenge!

DDX3X Support UK is an amazing charity that has really helped us as a family. I’d love to give something back by raising vital funds to support our DDX3X community and raise awareness amongst medical professionals. DDX3X Syndrome is a common cause of intellectual disability, most commonly found in girls. Only discovered in 2014 there is lots more to learn about this rare condition.

It’s also poignant with the Summer Olympics and Paralympics starting soon in Paris. My employer, Allianz, is proud worldwide insurance partner of the Olympics and Paralympics Movements. They will also be matching up to £500 of what I raise – amazing!

Thanks for reading our story and helping make a big difference.

Lots of Love,

Anna & Jessica xx
