Story
I’m running my first marathon in memory of my friend, Karolina, who died in May 2020 of ovarian cancer.
I met Karolina at a toddler group in 2011. We had kids similar ages and shared those raw early experiences of parenthood.
Karolina was an activist and community builder. She raised over £400k for survivors of the Grenfell Tower. She also set up a wonderful Women’s group to help new mothers, which I was part of. Karolina left a legacy. The Neighbourhood Doulas organisation she cofounded is still helping refugee mums.
To honour and celebrate her and her two sons who survive her, I'm running 26.2 miles on 14th April for Macmillan Cancer Support. Their nurses help people living with cancer and their families. I want to support Macmillan so they can support people like Karolina.
