Story
As many of you know my amazing Dad passed away in March this year. Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June 2023, even with this diagnosis he kept a smile on his face and made many happy memories for us all.
In the same week Bill Quail was diagnosed with a brain tumour, another life limiting diagnosis which he fought so bravely.
When Helen (Bills widow) called me to suggest riding from London to Brighton I wasn't sure if I could actually make it. I cycle daily - 4km to work! so 55 miles is rather a challenge for me. I have never cycled that far before.
It only took a moment, thinking of Dad and Bill to know it was the perfect opportunity to help raise much needed funds for a charity supporting others and their families in similar positions.
So I've pumped up my bike wheels, had a couple of test cycles (the furtherest was 60km in Greece!) and I'm going for it.
I want to spend the day making a positive effort for all those who are affected by cancer. Helen is cycling for the Brain Tumour Trust, and I am cycling for Macmillan. Together we will make it to Brighton and celebrate the lives of Dad and Bill, who I know would love to see us struggle up the infamous mega hill at the end!
Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.
