Story
Within a few days of giving birth to Oscar in 2018, I became very unwell and was diagnosed with postpartum psychosis. I was transferred from Liverpool to the Mother and Baby unit in Leeds where I stayed with Oscar for six weeks while I recovered. Six years later, I have challenged myself to run (with the option to walk/cycle) 72 miles during May, which is the distance between my house in Liverpool and the mother and baby unit where I was treated. I would appreciate any sponsorship which will encourage me in my challenge and raise money for Action on Postpartum Psychosis.
Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) is a UK charity. We’re here to make sure mums, parents and families are supported through postpartum psychosis – a severe, but treatable, form of mental illness that occurs after having a baby and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year.
We offer information and peer support, facilitate ground breaking research, raise awareness and campaign for improved services.
Our life changing peer support network helps women and families affected by postpartum psychosis feel understood, supported and less isolated.
